Mothers Day Tribute

Mothers day is a big celebration day for all those wonderful beings in our lives. Without them we would not be here to enjoy life. It is a special day when we honor and acknowledge mothers all over. For everything they do for us. Even if we sometimes don’t give them the respect the deserve. The celebration is yearly on the second Sunday in May in most countries, including the United States. On this day we have the chance to make up for not being grateful for what they do for us. Not only Mothers but also Grandmothers and all other who play the same role.

Mothers Day really started back in ancient times. The Greeks and Romans made the celebration for the maternal goddesses Rhea and Cybele. However, the modern Mother’s Day here in the United States was in the early 1900s. A woman by the name of Anna Jarvis, an American activist, wanted to honor her Mother after hers died in 1905. She campaigned for a day to become a national holiday. Finally in 1914 it became a reality after President Woodrow Wilson designated the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day officially.

Celebrating Mothers Day

Celebrations happen all over the World for Mother’s Day varies days not always on the same in every country as in the United States. But why it is celebrated, it’s for the same reason. That is to devote that day for the recognition of what our Mothers have done for us all their lives. Many people choose to present them with whatever they want to do for them. Some give gifts which mostly is flowers or chocolates. Some take their Mom out to dinner or stay home a do a family recipe they all love. Just to have some quality time to talk for all those day during the year you don’t get together. It does not matter how you celebrate her, the most important thing for them is that you show you care for them.

Therefore, I will state it once again Mother’s Day is not only for honoring biological Mothers, but all others who have taken their time to be your Mother figure. Which in most cases is sisters, aunts, grandmother, others not related and don’t forget stepmothers.. So important to have that present to love and respect all the things they all have done for you thru the years.

Remembering Our Mother Once They Are Not With Us

Now a moment of sadness, for some people as well. All those who have lost or do not get along very well with their Mothers they may not want to do anything, but it is important to remember that everyone’s situation is different, there really is not any right or wrong way to remember this day. Just in your own way you can do whatever you need to do on this day. Either a visit to the cemetery, if possible, or a simple call will be fine.

Don’t let time pass without telling them how much they mean to you. You do not have to wait for the actual Mother’s Day to let them know what you feel. You never know if the last time you speak or visit them, it might just be the last time you see them. And you will regret not having told your Mother how much you love and value her.
